More than two dozen alleged gang members have been indicted for crimes that stretched through the Bronx to Rikers Island.

Some of the 29 members of the "Mac Balla" gang are facing charges of attempted murder and smuggling scalpels into jails.

They're also accused of dealing crack cocaine and using social media to find and stalk potential robbery victims.

Investigators were able to stop a planned shooting by the group before anyone was hurt.

"This illustrates the ongoing fight to dismantle the brutal criminal network which has its hub in Rikers Island. The effort to stem gang violence is a constant and focus of our work, but unfortunately the violence continues," Darcel Clark, a Bronx District Attorney said.

Some of the alleged gang members face up to 25 years in prison, if convicted.
