A Bronx woman was shot and killed as she answered her doorbell last night.

Police say 45-year-old Wendy Martinez was shot in the face in her own apartment just after 9:30 p.m. last night near Grand Concourse and East 156th Street. The shooter aimed right through the peephole in her front door.

The motive remains a mystery and neighbors say they have never heard any disputes coming from the apartment.

“Wow, I’m in shock. I still don’t believe it," said Juan Sanchez, Wendy Martinez's neighbor. "This is a quiet building. I can't believe it...That can happen to my wife and kids. Even my wife was saying last night, 'Things are changing.' Hopefully it's just an incident that happened."

Martinez leaves behind two sons. No arrests have been made.
