NEW YORK - The Met's "Heavenly Bodies" exhibit is now its most-visited ever.

The museum says more than 1.6 million people came to see it since the exhibit opened in May.

That beats out the previous record held by the 1978 King Tut show.

"Heavenly Bodies" paid tribute to the Catholic Church's influence on fashion.

The exhibit was spread out over the Cloisters and the Met's Fifth Avenue location.

It closed earlier this week.
