Leon and George Kalajian are father and son pleaters in The Garment Center. Leon is in his 80’s but hasn’t slowed down in his desire to make perfect pleats. He learned as a child in Lebanon and taught his son. They’re well known around the world for their top quality work, but this family business is top secret as they have to protect their secret formulas. Still they let NY1’s Stephanie Simon see some of the basics of how they crest pleats and some elaborate examples of just how much they like to push the boundaries of this technique.
