Hundreds took to the streets of Manhattan Saturday for the Youth Climate March.

The event kicked off Saturday morning in front of the Trump International Hotel in Columbus Circle.

Young activists from around the country are holding similar marches in other big cities, including the nation's capitol.

Parents say the march is about setting an example for future generations.

"I worry about the earth that we're going to leave for our children, and my son's worried about the earth that the're going to grow up on, especially my younger son, who is so passionate about animals," said one person at the march.

Demonstrators want lawmakers to ditch fossil fuel corporations and invest in sustainable energy alternatives.
