A Brooklyn woman is dead and her 6-year-old son is in the hospital after they were hit by a car Tuesday night.

Investigators say two cars collided at Remsen and Seaview Avenues in Canarsie shortly before 10 p.m.

One of the cars jumped the curb and hit Shaena Sinclair ad her son.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition with a head injury.

One man who lives nearby says the Department of Transportation needs to do something to make the block safer.

"This is not the first accident we had on this block. So we're asking them to either give us speed cameras or give us speed bumps. Because if they don't, we're going to keep having more casualties on this block," said the resident.

Both drivers remained on the scene.

It's not clear if any charges will be filed.
