Fire marshals are investigating after a person, caught on video, tried to light a Manhattan restaurant on fire Tuesday.

Massimiliano Galeano, the owner of Gradisca Ristorante on West 13th St. in between 6th and 7th Ave., said surveillance video shows the incident that happened around 3:25 a.m.

The video shows a person appearing to pour a liquid on the restaurant's awning, lighting a piece of paper on fire and trying to drop it onto the awning. But the piece of paper slid off the canopy and fell to the ground. The person is then seen leaving the scene.

Multiple families live above the restaurant, according to Galeano.

Officials have not confirmed a motive.

Police officials said the incident is being investigated as arson.
