A memorial was held in Manhattan Tuesday for the victims of the Pulse Nightclub shooting, two years after the massacre in Orlando.

March for Our Lives New York hosted a 12 minute die-in Tuesday afternoon at at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza in Midtown.

Participants called on young people to vote for lawmakers who support gun reform, and read the names of all 49 people killed at Pulse on June 12, 2016.

"We need to know who these people were, what their lives were about," said one person at the die-in. "I mean, these were people too, and now they're gone. Their families are torn apart now because someone went in and took their life. It's just so cruel."

Participants laid on the ground for 12 minutes, or 720 seconds, symbolizing the approximate number of lives lost in mass shootings since the Pulse nightclub massacre.
