A Manhattan karate instructor is facing charges after five female students accused him of sexual abuse.

Hector Benscosme was arraigned Sunday.

The five victims range in age from 10 to 15 years old.

Police say he touched them inappropriately at his basement studio in Inwood.

He allegedly told them he needed to "evaluate their bodies" to touch their private parts.

"It's crazy because we have these type of people in our neighborhood and we don't even know it, and we have you know basements and, you know, these instructors that we trust with our children and, you know, we over here walking by every day like everything is normal, it's happening right under our noses," said one person in the neighborhood.

Police sources tell NY1 Bencosme was charged with two counts of child endangerment back in 2000. He allegedly grabbed the rear ends of two 16-year-olds at that same karate studio.

The 57-year-old is due back in court June 1.
