NEW YORK - Six people were hurt Thursday evening after a car crashed into a deli in Manhattan.

It happened just before 7:30 p.m on the corner of West 21st Street and Eighth Avenue.

The FDNY says three people were seriously hurt, but none of the injuries are considered to be life threatening.

Witnesses at the scene tell NY1 the silver sedan had collided with a yellow cab on the street before it crashed through the deli's entrance.

"We did our special operations units, did sure up the building to make sure that there was no further structural damage or any problems with anything falling down," said one firefighter at the scene. 

Residents who live above the deli were able to go back into their apartments.

The city Department of Buildings has been called to the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
