NEW YORK - The NYPD body camera program is reportedly being rolled out to sergeants and lieutenants.

The New York Post says beginning Monday, the cameras will be given to hundreds of ranking officers in 12 precincts.

It's a first since the program began last spring.

The head of the Lieutenants Benevolent Association says it's not opposed to discussing the rollout with the NYPD, but that it wants to make sure the proper safeguards are in place to protect its members.

All officers on patrol will be equipped with body cameras by the end of the year.
