A memorial service was held Thursday for a FDNY lieutenant who was killed in a helicopter crash in Iraq.

A military honors ceremony was held inside Washington Square Park for Christopher "Tripp" Zanetis.

He was remembered at New York University where he graduated in 2003.

His body was brought from his former firehouse, Engine 28 Ladder 11 in the East Village to Washington Square Park.

The 37-year-old was one of seven U.S. airmen who died after their helicopter hit a power line during a routine transfer of personnel to a border outpost.
