Tuesday's weather is looking pretty nice for the sixth day of February! With plenty of sunshine, temperatures will warm to the 50s and 60s in the afternoon.  Look for the mid and upper 40s across northeastern North Carolina and the Outer Banks. Highs in the low and mid 60s will be likely in southeastern parts of the state.

The nice weather comes ahead of a storm system that will bring rain chances back to the region Wednesday, but most of that rain may not arrive in eastern North Carolina until late in the day Wednesday. That will give temperatures time to get even warmer for Wednesday afternoon. Highs around Wilmington and Jacksonville should reach 70 or even the low 70s.

Around a quarter of an inch to a half inch of rain is expected Wednesday afternoon and evening. Some of the showers could produce gusty winds and even some thunder and lightning.

Cooler and dry weather will return for the last couple days of the work week.  More rain will be possible over the weekend.
