Jury selection continued Tuesday in the trial of former Schenectady code enforcement officer Kenneth Tyree, who faces charges in a massive apartment fire that left four people dead.

Selection began Monday, but a full jury was not seated. Tyree is charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in connection with the March 2015 fire on Jay Street.

Prosecutors say Tyree lied when he said the apartment building's fire alarm system was working just one day before the fire. They also say Tyree had a prior felony conviction, which should have prevented him from being hired as a code enforcement officer.

Building manager Jason Sachs also pleaded guilty last month to four counts of criminally negligent homicide.
