AUSTIN, Texas — Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody on Thursday morning reported a driver had been shot in the shoulder and that his department is investigating.

Authorities said somewhere in Austin, a 27-year-old victim began exchanging gunfire with someone in a white Jeep. The victim was shot in the left shoulder, and pulled off in the 15000 block of RM 620, near the intersection with SH 45. Investigators don't know where the Jeep went.

The victim walked into a barber shop nearby to call 911. He was taken to a nearby hospital. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, according to officials.

Officials believe the incident may have started as some kind of criminal activity that went wrong.

Authorities are asking anyone who knows who the white Jeep belonged to or where exactly the incident started to contact them.
