SAN ANTONIO - A teen has been detained after officials say he threatened his ex-girlfriend over text message, prompting a lockdown at a San Antonio high school.

Authorities say Travis Early College High School was placed on lockdown Thursday morning because of the teen's threats to come to the school with a gun and attack his ex-girlfriend.

The lockdown was lifted by early afternoon. San Antonio College, located across the street, had been placed on lockdown as well.

Several officers clad in bullet-proof vests and armed with long guns were stationed around the school. Eventually, made contact with the suspect and he surrendered to authorities.

San Antonio police Officer Doug Greene says San Antonio Independent School District police are now handling the case and will determine what charges the suspect will face, if any.
