TRIAD -- As the first snow of the season moves over the Triad, people are reporting thousands of power outages along with problems out on the road.

North Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brandon Baker says, "no matter the amount its always important to just be careful when you're out there. Slow down and drive below the speed limit and just take your time."

They're reporting hundreds of crashes across nine counties.

"Randolph, Chathum, Lee, Guilford, Alamance, Orange, Caswell, Person and Rockingham counties-- those 9 counties have 429 crash calls from the highway patrols," Trooper Bakers says.

They're warning drivers not to abandon cars amid rough road conditions. If you don't feel safe, park your car somewhere it won't be a hazard.
