The city is gearing up for what could be the first snowfall of the season.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 6 a.m. Saturday until 1 a.m. Sunday.

Around two to five inches of snow is expected late Saturday morning or early afternoon.

The heaviest accumulations  are expected in Brooklyn and Queens.

Alternate side parking rules will be suspended Saturday, but meters will still be in effect.

The sanitation department says they have reviewed snow routes and operations to make sure they're using equipment as efficiently as possible.

Commissioner Kathryn Garcia says the agency is not taking the snowfall lightly.

"We anticipate that we will start rolling out the salt spreaders as soon as the first flake hits and we will start salting the roadways at that time. We will continue salting through the storm with our salt spreaders but once we get above about two inches we will send the plows out," Garcia said.

The city is encouraging people to stay off the roads if possible and instead use mass transit.

Property owners are also reminded to clear sidewalks once the snowfall ends.

When the snow finally hits we'd like to see your snow day pictures.

Whether it's getting around town, or sleigh riding in the park.

Post them on Twitter or Instagram using #NY1 snow  and they may just wind up on TV.
