With the holiday shopping season in full effect, parking in front of stores is at a premium. Issues with disabled parking are getting a premium spot on one Staten Island lawmakers agenda.

Assemblyman Michael Cusick held his 14th annual public awareness campaign for the disabled parking task force at the Staten Island Mall Monday morning.

He's hoping to curb the amount of drivers who disregard signs designating spaces for individuals with disabilities.

"Just remind people particularly in this time of giving, this busy shopping season, that these spots are important to people who count on them," said Cusick.

Staten Island businesses can contact Assemblyman Cusick's office for an additional sign to be installed in their parking lot, reminding customers disabled parking spaces are reserved.
