Police are investigating after two people were shot Wednesday afternoon in Brooklyn.

Emergency crews responded to a call of shots fired near Pitkin Avenue and Wyona Street in East New York around 2:30 p.m.

A nearby street vendor, Jennique Griffin, tells NY1 she was nearly struck by one of the bullets.

"I was trained to be a Marine in high school in ROTC and I've never been in any conflict. That was the first time I felt like I know what it feels like to be in those conflicts. That thing went pyew, like a movie. So the one individual that did this right here, me and him have something to talk about. Personally," Griffin said.

Officials say a man was taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition.

A woman was shot in the leg and is in serious but stable condition.
