Driving in the city is usually a slow, grueling process. But some cars in Brooklyn will be going a touch faster this weekend.
The New York City ePrix takes place Saturday and Sunday in Red Hook.
It is the first time an officially sanctioned racetrack has ever been built in the city.
The electric single-seat cars will navigate ten turns on 1.2-miles of track at the site of Pier 11 and the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal.
The Formula E vehicles are powered by batteries and can reach 140 miles-per-hour in less than three seconds.
If you're worried about it getting loud, the cars make half the noise of Formula 1 racers.
And best of all, there will be no street closures.
"We were able to build an entire 1.2-mile circuit within the confines of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal and it really is a big moment for the team behind this one," said Formula E adviser Mike Hopper. "To build this wall, to build this fence you saw a gigantic undertaking and it will come down twice as quickly as it went up."
