SAN ANTONIO — Respite Care of San Antonio held its 15th annual Celebration of Love and Children.
The health facility is known for its unique focus on creating a safe haven for children in crisis through services like overnight stays, developmental programs and emergency shelters.
Generous supporters including many local organizations were among those recognized at the fundraiser.
The event funds the additional resources Respite Care says it needs to fill a critical gap for children who may not have anywhere else to go.
"So, we're one of the few organizations in the state that intentionally will serve those children that have health issues. A lot of them have been removed from their homes. Abuse and neglect. And, because of the support we get from the community, we're able to do this service,” said Larry Mejia, Respite Care CEO.
