Asian communities around the world are ringing in the Lunar New Year including many right here in New York.

Today marks the kickoff of the 15-day long holiday.

This is the year of the rooster — which is one of the 12 animals in the Chinese Zodiac.

Streets throughout Chinatown will be closed today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Chinese New Year Lion Dance Parade.

Celebrations have already begun in Asia.

The holiday ends February 11.

The next year of the rooster will occur in 2029.
