Some rusty Amtrak rails in Astoria have a whole new look thanks to some mural artists.

The not for profit group 501 See Streets has completed a new mural project in the neighborhood.

Its a Greece inspired mural under the Amtrakl rails on 29th Street.

The director and the artist wanted to pay tribute to the large Greek community in Astoria.

The organization works with community groups, business improvement districts , police precincts and neighborhood associations to beautify neighborhoods through art.

"The Hellenic Federation had often complained as well as some local residents about the conditions of the walls, so we wanted to do something that was symbolic of the neighborhood," says 501 See Streets Founder Noah Sheroff.

" I felt very happy to draw the image and then implement a conversation about Greece," said artist Martha Licia.

Elected leaders who represent the area funded the project.
