Hundreds of devout Christians marked Good Friday by participating in the "Way of the Cross" ceremony at St. James Cathedral in Brooklyn.

The procession commemorated Jesus's journey through the streets of Jerusalem on the day of his death.

Parishioners attended a prayer service at the church, located at 250 Cathedral Place near the corner of Jay and Tillary Streets, and then marched over the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan and several Catholic leaders took part in the procession.

"It's inspiring and people are so respectful," said one person at the service. "They really get in the spirit of Easter and of Good Friday. It's a holy day for us."

"I'm here for myself, for my family, and for all of New York," another attendee said.

Parishioners made several stops along the route, including City Hall, the World Trade Center site, and St. Peter’s Church in Lower Manhattan.

At each station, there were readings from scripture, along with hymns, reflections, and meditations.
