UPDATE: A 28-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with concealment of a human corpse, police say.

New York City police say they are investigating after a newborn baby was found dead on Staten Island.  

It happened around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

The New York Police Department said officers responded to a 911 call at a home on Richmond Hill Road in the New Springville neighborhood, and found the newborn baby unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency crews pronounced the child dead at the scene.

The city's medical examiner will determine the baby's cause of death. Police said they are continuing to investigate.
