The Bowery Mission got an early start to the holiday — volunteers have been serving up hundreds of turkeys all week long.

It was all leading up to Thursday, the organization hosted almost 2,000 people at its flagship location in Manhattan on Thanksgiving.

In addition to a meal, guests are also getting a brand new coat and "a blessing bag" with a winter hat and gloves.

"It's very good that they're giving out this stuff to the community and I love it," said one guest. "And the meal was very nice."

"I thank God that I had a nice Thanksgiving meal in Bowery Mission and I feel grateful," said another.

"Today is a day where we have to make sure that no family, no individual, no child, no senior should spend the day alone or without a meal," said Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez.

The Mission is also sending food trucks to 30 different locations around the city.

In all, it expects to serve 7,000 meals this holiday.
