A manhole fire in Downtown Brooklyn snarled Wednesday's evening commute for subway riders.

The manhole fire knocked out subway service on the F line between Jay St-Metrotech and Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street, as well as service on the G line between Bedford-Nostrand Avenues and Church Avenue.

Some F trains headed southbound terminated at Jay St, while some F trains heading northbound terminated at Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street. Other F trains ran along the C or D lines for stretches in Brooklyn.

The Con Edison manhole fire at Bergen Street took out signal power for those lines.

Service was restored at around 8:30 p.m.
