Broadway struts its stuff as actors hit the street to perform some of this year’s big hits.

Theater fans showed up in droves for the free outdoor concert "Stars in the Alley" on Wednesday.

The event featured live performances from over 20 Broadway shows, including some 2015 Tony nominees. With the awards less than two weeks away, performers say it is a great way to set the stage.

"I think it's cool to have people who are excited about Broadway. They're on their phones. They're tweeting and Instagramming and Facebooking, and it's getting the word out there. It's great for the community," says Darren Criss, host of Stars in the Alley.

"It's great to kind of celebrate the good weather outside and have like all the fans together celebrating all the Broadway shows all at once in this historic place," says 2015 Tony Award nominee Tony Yazbeck.

The Tony Awards are on June 7 at Radio City Music Hall.
