Direct, weekly charter flights between JFK Airport and Havana are now taking off for the first time since President Obama Obama eased restrictions on travel to Cuba in January.

The first flight offered by Cuba Travel Services took off Tuesday.

The round trip tickets cost $849.

That price includes airfare, Cuban medical insurance, and U.S. departure taxes.

Previously, travelers had to first go to Florida in order to catch a flight to Cuba.

Tourism to Cuba is still banned.

Travelers must declare a purpose in one of 12 approved categories, such as family visits, government work, and journalism.
