NEW YORK - SantaCon is not coming to town this year as the notoriously rowdy bar crawl has been cancelled.

The annual event usually attracts crowds of people in Santa suits for an all-day party at bars throughout the city. Many of the participating bars ask for donations upon entry.

But as cases rise across the city, organizers say they are trying to do their part to stop the spread.

On their website, organizers write, "Remain home and stay on the good list! We are all in this together so to keep the spirit alive, we have to socially distance and wear a mask. Looking forward to 2021."

They are also directing people to donate to Helping Hearts NYC, a charity devoted to providing food to some of the city's most at-risk groups during the pandemic.
