In the latest in a long line of end of the world movies, actors Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin try to save themselves by fleeing to Greenland before a comet destroys most of the world. In the film, which is called Greenland, Butler tries to protect his family by fleeing to the autonomous island territory.

The movie's release was delayed a few times during the pandemic, but is at least ready to hit theaters and VOD.

  1. The movie follows a family who must fight for survival as a planet-destroying comet races toward Earth.
  2. This isn't the first end of the world type movie Gerard Butler has made. He headlined the three-film, action-thriller series; Olympus Has Fallen, London Has Fallen, and Angel Has Fallen. Butler gained worldwide recognition for his portrayal of King Leonidas in Zack Snyder's fantasy war film, 300.
  3. Originally, Chris Evans was cast to play the lead in Greenland. Less than a year later, Evans dropped out and Butler replaced him.  
  4. Morena Baccarin is a Brazilian-American actress who voices Inara Serra in the sci-fi series Firefly and the follow-up film Serenity. She also played Vanessa in the superhero comedy film, Deadpool and its sequel Deadpool 2, Jessica Brody in the Showtime series Homeland, and Dr. Leslie Lee Thompkins in the Fox series, Gotham.
  5. In 2015, Baccarin said that after her divorce was finalized, she planned to marry her Gotham co-star, Ben McKenzie, adding that she was pregnant with their child. The couple have a daughter, they announced their engagement in November and married in Brooklyn, New York, on June 2, 2017, Baccarin's 38th birthday.
