House Speaker Paul Ryan endorsed Donald Trump for President on Thursday.

Ryan previously said he wasn't ready to lend the Manhattan businessman his support.

But a series of closed door meetings between Trump, Ryan, and other Republican lawmakers seems to have bridged the gap.

In a tweet, the Speaker — writing on his personal account and linking to an op-ed in his hometown newspaper — says:

Meanwhile, Democratic rival Hillary Clinton is ramping up her criticism of Trump.

During a foreign policy speech in California, the former Secretary of State said electing Trump would be quote "a historic mistake."

"Donald Trump's ideas aren't just different," Clinton said. "They are dangerously incoherent.  They're not even really ideas just a series of bizarre rants, personal feuds, and outright lies."

Trump is also in California — he's expected to hold a campaign rally tonight in San Jose.
