Con Edison is stopping all meter readings and smart meter installations in an effort to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.

The company says it will also only enter a customer's home for an emergency safety-related inspection or a customer-requested service.

If you have an appointment, and someone in your home is sick or quarantined, you should call  800-752-6633.

Con Ed has taken other steps to help the public during the outbreak.

It's stopping shutoffs of electric, natural gas or steam service due to non-payments resulting from the health crisis.

Late-payment charges will be waived for all customers.

The utility has also temporarily shut down customer service walk-in centers across the five boroughs.
