Employees at Xerox in Webster faced another round of layoffs Thursday.

Spectrum News spoke with one employee who said he was laid off after 20 years with the company. That employee said workers are getting notice at several different buildings.

No word yet on how many workers will be impacted.

We're told that terminated employees are being paid through the end of the year and are being offered severance packages depending on their length of service.

Xerox is the biggest taxpayer and critical part of the economic landscape in Webster. The latest round of layoffs comes just months after the company handed out pink slips to 171 employees.

Town Supervisor Ron Nesbitt says another round of layoffs, whether big or small, is devastating.

"If they're gonna go the way that Kodak went by taking down buildings and going in that direction, that's gonna hurt the tax base. Our preference would be to fill those buildings with active businesses and bring people in from the outside to fill those businesses so we can move on," said Nesbitt.

Xerox officials did not immediately return a request for comment.
