Popular 1990s rapper Craig Mack is dead.

The Long Island lyricist died of heart failure at a hospital near his home in South Carolina.

Mack was nominated for a Grammy for his 1994 platinum hit "Flava in Ya Ear."

It was the first release by Sean "Diddy" Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment record label.

The song's remix was also a smash hit, and featured rap legends Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, and The Notorious B.I.G.

After his second album release, Mack left the music industry to devote his life to religion.

He was 46-years-old.
