1673...Mail service begins in America with delivery from New York to Boston along the now-famous Boston Post Road.


1957..."The Mad Bomber," George Metesky, is arrested in Connecticut after a six-year manhunt. Metesky, a former Con Ed worker, had terrorized the city by planting dozens of homemade bombs in public places, in retaliation for a workplace injury. In all, 15 people were injured in 22 explosions.
