A bakery in the Belmont section of the Bronx is paying sweet tribute to the new pope.
Artuso Pastry on Crescent Avenue is rolling out a new edition of its famous "Pope Cookies."
They got to work as soon as Pope Francis introduced himself on Wednesday.
His election holds special meaning for Natalia Corridori, the store's general manager, who like the pope hails from Argentina.
"Before it was just my job. Now it's a pope from my country," Corridori said. "So now it's very big, very exciting, I'm very proud. My family acts like they won the World Cup. My family in Argentina says it's like riots out there, they're so overly excited."
The store hopes to make as big a splash as it did in 2008 when it made over 500 cookies celebrating Pope Benedict XVI's mass at Yankee Stadium.
