Man Acquitted In Connection With Detective's Shooting Death Gets Two Years For Parole Violation

The man acquitted of murdering NYPD detective Peter Figoski will still be spending time behind bars because of a parole violation.
During his trial, Michael Velez admitted to smoking marijuana the night of Figoski's murder in 2011.
That was enough to earn him a two-year prison sentence for violating his parole.
Last week, a jury found Velez not guilty of the murder and burglary charges against him.
The time he spent in jail during the trial will count as time served for this new sentence, according to the Department of Probation.
Lamont Pride was convicted of shooting and killing Figoski during a botched robbery in Brooklyn.
He faces 25 years to life in prison when he's sentenced next week.
Two other people are also charged in the case.
