NY1's weekly segment "Your Weekend Starts Now" shows entertaining picks for great things to do this weekend all around the city. NY1's Frank DiLella filed the following report.
"Bond Redux" Concert at 54 Below
Back to list
Celebrate 50 years of Bond -- James Bond -- this Oscar Sunday at 54 Below with "Bond Redux," a musical tribute to the songs from the famous films, featuring an all-star list of performers. Plus, 007-themed cocktails will be served -- shaken, not stirred, of course.
Tickets start at $25 and proceeds will go to Sandy Guerrilla Volunteers, who provide relief for victims of Hurricane Sandy in Far Rockaway.
Elizabeth Stanley at 54 Below
Also on deck at 54 Below, Elizabeth Stanley returns to the club Monday night for a special one-night only performance of her solo cabaret show. The Broadway star will sing everything from country and pop tunes to some favorite Broadway showtunes.
"Public Private" exhibit at Parsons
For techies and social media junkies, the "Public Private" exhibition at the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center at Parsons The New School for Design is the city's first major exhibition of works that look at new technologies and social media and how they impact our private and public lives. The exhibition runs through April 17.
Thomas Pryor: "New York Scenes From A Bicycle"
Another exhibit worth a ride-by is Thomas Pryor's photo exhibit "New York Scenes From A Bicycle," currently on display at the Cornelia Street Cafe. Take a look at pictures the photographer snapped while riding his bike throughout the city over the years.
Blooms On Broadway
For any budding and seasoned gardeners, "Blooms On Broadway" is setting up shop at Gotham Hall this weekend. The show will feature more than 500 species of flowers and plants, international vendors, an expert speaker series and more.
Fifth Annual NYC Beer Week
Finally, for the 21-and-older crowd, the fifth annual New York City Beer Week kicks off on Friday. Craft breweries, restaurants and bars across the five boroughs will host tastings, dinners, and even a beer festival through Sunday, March 3. Visit the website to see all the events on tap.
