A Staten Island man is facing murder charges after police say he stabbed his wife to death and tried to kill himself over the holiday.

Adiljan Anarbaev, 44, is facing second degree murder and weapons charges.

Investigators say he stabbed his wife, Ilona Ganza, 44, inside their home on Country Drive North in New Springville on Monday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anarbaev was taken to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.

An investigation is ongoing.
