NY1 highlights the coolest and newest apps for your cell phone or mobile device in the twice-weekly segment "App Wrap." NY1's Adam Balkin filed the following report.

Drawp
It may look like just another app that lets kids doodle on a mobile device, but "Drawp", developed by an MIT physicist and a former Amazon.com engineer, gives children a lot more freedom over how they can share that doodle.

Parents begin by setting up an account through the app, which involves putting certain people's email addresses in there (moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles), then assigning each address a face. Once kids are done with their creation, they can then simply drag it to any of the faces they'd like and it gets sent, via email, to that person. The recipient can then, through their mobile device or computer, add on to the picture, even throw in some audio if they'd like, and send it right back.

The thought here is that the app allows kids to be more social with their drawings, even if they can't read or don't have an email account. Plus, it's only with the people mom and dad approve of.

"Drawp" is a free app for iOS devices, though through in-app purchases for 99 cents and $1.99, you can unlock additional drawing tools.

Tamagotchi L.i.f.e.
Anyone who grew up in the '90s is familiar with the Tamagotchi. The virtual pets you used to carry around on your keychain and feed and play with all day are back on your mobile device.

Called "Tamagotchi L.i.f.e." (L.i.f.e. stands "love is fun everywhere"), there are two modes. One mimics the old school keychain with those buttons in the same place, and one lets you play games more like you usually do on a touchscreen device, such as rock, paper, scissors.

Just like the original, you have to care for the pet throughout the day or it'll kick the bucket.

Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. is right now just for Android devices and, actually, just certain Android devices. There's a free version with ads. It costs 99 cents to play without ads.
