A mistrial was declared Thursday in the case of an elementary school teacher's aide in Manhattan who is accused of molesting an 8-year-old boy.

Gregory Atkins was arrested last February, accused of groping the student multiple times at P.S. 87 on the Upper West Side.

But after getting the evidence, the jury could not decide whether he actually molested the child.

The jurors also acquitted him of 10 counts of possessing child pornography.

Atkins is scheduled back in court next Friday.

He is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Seven years ago, Atkins was suspended from M.S. 322 in Washington Heights for having an inappropriate, non-sexual relationship with a male student.
