New Bill Would Require City To Post Parking Changes 24 Hours In Advance

A city lawmaker wants to make sure drivers are warned of temporary parking changes due to construction or special events at least one day in advance.
Brooklyn City Councilman David Greenfield plans to submit a bill Wednesday that would require the city to post signs at least 24 hours before a no-parking zone is created for a special event or roadwork.
The Department of Transportation said it would not comment on the bill because doesn't comment on legislation before it reaches committee and it's unclear whether the law would affect DOT.
Currently there is no law on the books outlining a specific time frame in which the city has to notify drivers.
Greenfield says the bill stems from his own experience of getting towed because he parked before notification of parking changes went out.
