Bob Kerrey has resigned as president emeritus of The New School.

The former Democratic Senator was appointed two weeks ago as executive chairman of the Minerva Institute for Research and Scholarship in San Francisco.

At the time, Kerrey said that the new job did not conflict with his responsibilities at The New School.

However, according to the school, it was decided that Kerrey will only be staying on until the end of the academic year as a consultant.

He served as The New School's president for nine years before being appointed president emeritus.

Kerrey is credited with doubling the size of the faculty and spearheading a massive construction project to expand the campus.
