Sandy Relief Package Remains Stalled In Senate

Some 12 weeks after the storm, more than $50 billion in federal Hurricane Sandy relief is still being held up in the U.S. Senate.

Lawmakers aren't passing any new legislation until a vote on new chamber procedures goes through.

The House has passed the measure.

The Senate was expected to do so Thursday night, but since it didn't, sources say it will likely have to wait until Monday.

Senate Democrats want to eliminate the possibility of a filibuster by the Republican minority.

Senators are also negotiating how many Republican amendments will be included in the bill.

Many of them call for cost offsets or a detailed account of how the aid will be paid for.

The Hurricane Sandy relief package is expected to pass when it finally gets voted on.
