Jets Chairman and CEO Woody Johnson announced Friday that John Idzik will be named the team's new general manager.

Idzik spent the past six seasons as vice president of football administration with the Seattle Seahawks.

Before that, he was senior director of football operations for the Arizona Cardinals.

Idzik got his start in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he rose as high as assistant general manager.

The Jets said they'll introduce Idzik as GM at a news conference next Thursday morning.
