Architecture Critic Ada Louise Huxtable Dies At 91

Architecture critic Ada Louise Huxtable died Monday in Manhattan at the age of 91.


According to her attorney, she died at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center following an illness.


A native New Yorker, Huxtable began working at The New York Times in 1963, where she became the first winner of the Pulitzer Prize for criticism in 1970.


She later went on to work for the Wall Street Journal.


Huxtable also received a MacArthur Foundation "Genius Grant" back in 1981.


Some of her pieces were published as recently as last month.
