2012 Fashion Year In Review: Lacoste Celebrates 80th Anniversary, Betsey Johnson Makes Comeback

From Fashion Week to financial woes, from anniversaries to raising awareness, the fashion world was full of headlines in 2012. NY1's Jessica Abo filed the following report.
From rhinestones to milestones, 2012 was a busy year.
In February, Carmen Marc Valvo set the stage for fall, drawing inspiration from film noir.
A new roster of ladies in red raised awareness and funds for The Heart Truth Campaign, which is dedicated to fighting heart disease in women.
More than 500 cities celebrated Fashion's Night Out. The global initiative is designed to support local economies.
Betsey Johnson not only turned 70, she also made a comeback after filing for bankruptcy in April. She showed off 90 new pieces at her September show, as well as her signature cartwheel.
To toast to Lacoste's 80th anniversary, the label's creative director went through the archives. Come spring, you'll see the crocodile's history come to life with some original looks mixed with new fabrics and prints.
Designer Walter Baker made his Lincoln Center debut with his first line of handbags and jewelry. To spring into 2013, Baker said you'll want to mix prints, patterns and lots of bold colors.
Melissa Gerstein and Denise Albert of the brand "The Moms" partnered with Stephanie Winston Wolkoff of SWW Creative to bring the their mom-focused fashion show into the tents. This year, Moms on A Mission strut their stuff.
St. John's Senior Vice President, Greg Myler, launched his first lineup for the label, with a new concept he's calling color shock.
Just in time for the holidays, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, Carolina Herrera and other major leaders from the Council of Fashion Designers of America have created items for a special holiday collection being sold at Target and Neiman Marcus. Speaking of Herrera, the fashion icon walked home with the Designer of the Year Award at the ninth annual Style Awards.
And the popular online boutique Piperlime opened its first store. The Gap company now offers shoppers the chance to try on clothes and accessories in their wonderland on Wooster St.
