Prosecutors say a gun linked to the shooting of a Manhattan police officer helped bring down a drug ring.

The New York City Police Department and federal drug agents began investigating the gang after a July shooting in the Lower East Side that wounded officer Brian Groves.

As part of the investigation, undercover police officers said they bought cocaine and what turned out to be the gun used to shoot Groves from the gang.

Federal prosecutors say of the 13 indicted on drug and weapons charges, 11 were arrested Thursday, one was already in jail and one other is still at large.

Groves was patrolling a housing project on Essex Street when he was shot in a 23rd floor stairwell.

He was saved by his protective vest.
